Color Counsel

When I develop a palette for a house it has to emanate from the people who live there. A home is a personal statement. The color of the walls and furnishings should reflect beautiful flattering light on the occupants. I don’t discount how other people will look in a home. My goal, though, is to make my clients feel confident and attractive.

I work from a variety of different paint resources and often create new colors to fill a certain need. Manipulating pigments to create custom colors can solve a lot of design problems and architectural issues. Often it’s the first option I consider for giving an existing environment a lift. A shift in color can give a shot in the arm to interiors that feel stale.

House Dressing

When you want to spiff up your house for a party or even to sell, House Dressing is a great option. By regrouping accessories and furnishings we can give a fresh look to a home, without making purchases. However, if a little paint or a few new pillows will net big results I’ll be sure to tell you. 

Since time is limited, be prepared to work quickly and to finish some of the ideas after I’ve gone. Longer sessions are available to people who want a more hands on approach. It’s always your call. *

Consulting

My background has also included party design, photo styling and art direction. Should you have needs in one of these areas or in other matters concerning aesthetics I would be happy to help.

Style File

Tastes and needs change. Even beautiful homes sometimes need a little buff up. I’ll work with you to take an inventory of the areas you want changed. Together we’ll decide whether you’ll want to recover, recolor or edit each area or item of concern.

I’ll leave you with a plan of action and a list of resources. Where pertinent I’ll provide some color guidance or other solution options.

Traffic Patterns

If your home is experiencing rush hour traffic jams and the occasional pile up, we can clear the path with Traffic Patterns. Simple diagrams and traffic flow analysis can smooth the way to a home that feels more comfortable.

To make the best use of time we’ll work on paper to create your plan. Working together we'll address your concerns. Then I'll leave you with a simple floor plan and solid solutions. *

Shopping

I’m available to shop for you or with you on a session basis. I will offer you retail options and products that are easily accessed by the public.

I can also accompany you to designer showrooms. You are under no obligation to make those purchases through me. However  the purchase of accessories and raw materials, such as fabric, wallpaper and special paint is available.

*Due to liability concerns I will not be able to hang art or move furniture. Should you wish to do these tasks during our appointment a few friends on hand would be a great asset.

Fees

The basic unit for booking time is a session, which consists of two consecutive hours and costs $250. Additional time may be added at $125 per hour, charged in half hour increments. For your convenience, payments can be made through PayPal.

Many resources are available to the client through a variety of sources. However some products remain difficult to find. Accessories and raw materials, such as fabric, wallpaper and special paints that are available exclusively to the trade may be purchased through Ken Hoyt Style, Inc. No discount can be offered.
